Phalanx – SNES Game

Phalanx is a horizontally scrolling shooter for the Super Nintendo. You fly a lone fighter through side-scrolling stages set over landscapes, installations and space, shooting waves of enemy craft and avoiding their return fire. Defeated enemies drop weapon items that swap your main gun between different shot types and add trailing support pods, and a charge shot lets you hold fire for a heavier blast. Each stage builds to a boss fight with set attack patterns to read and counter. Difficulty settings and a limited stock of lives shape how far a single run can take you. The game uses the SNES hardware for layered scrolling backgrounds and scaling effects during some sequences, with straightforward two-button controls for shooting and switching options.
