Renegade – NES Game

Renegade is a side-scrolling beat ’em up converted from the arcade original. You play a street fighter working through a series of stages against local gangs, moving left and right while also stepping up and down within the fighting area. Your moveset covers punches, kicks, jumping attacks and grabs, including throws and repeated blows once an enemy is held. Enemies come in groups and each stage builds towards a tougher gang leader who takes more punishment and hits harder. Settings include a subway station, a rough part of town and the docks. The game has no scrolling checkpoints to hide behind: crowds surround you, so positioning and knowing which attack clears space matter more than mashing. A limited stock of lives and a timer govern each attempt.
