Samurai Shodown – SNES Game

Samurai Shodown for the Super Nintendo adapts SNK’s weapon-based fighting game to the console. Matches are one-on-one duels fought with swords and other weapons, where solid hits take off large portions of the life bar and clashing blades can send a weapon flying, leaving a fighter to fight unarmed until it is recovered. The cast includes swordsman Haohmaru, Nakoruru and her hawk, the fencer Charlotte, and other duelists, each with their own reach, speed and special moves performed with directional motions and attack buttons. Play through the arcade-style single-player ladder against the roster, or face another player in versus matches. Stages are set in feudal Japanese and international locations, with the series’ emphasis on cautious spacing and decisive counterattacks rather than long combo strings.
