Shadow of the Ninja – NES Game

Shadow of the Ninja is a side-scrolling action game for the NES. You play as a ninja fighting through a series of stages set in a ruined near-future city, using a sword for close-range attacks along with secondary weapons and items picked up along the way. Movement includes clinging to and hanging from ceilings and platforms, and stages mix combat against soldiers and machines with platforming over gaps and hazards. Boss fights close out the levels. Two players can play at the same time, each controlling a different ninja, which changes how you handle crowded screens and boss patterns. Enemy placement and limited health make careful positioning more useful than rushing forward, and the game keeps its presentation dark and industrial throughout.
