Solar Jetman – NES Game

Solar Jetman is a space exploration game for the NES played from an overhead view. You fly a small ship across large, scrolling planetary caverns, contending with gravity, inertia and thrust rather than simple directional movement. The core loop involves locating pieces of machinery and other cargo, attaching them to your ship with a tow line, and hauling them back to your mother ship, all while fuel drains and the added weight changes how the ship handles. Colliding with terrain damages the ship, and each planet has its own gravity strength and hazards, including enemy craft and shifting obstacles. Shields, weapons and other upgrades can be purchased between trips. The emphasis is on careful piloting and route planning, and the physics-driven controls take practice to master.
