Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts – SNES Game

Super Ghouls ‘N Ghosts is a side-scrolling action platformer for the Super Nintendo in which you play as the knight Arthur, battling through the undead to rescue Princess Prin Prin. Arthur’s armour absorbs a single hit before falling away, leaving him in his underwear and one blow from death. His arsenal of throwable weapons includes lances, daggers, axes and torches, each behaving differently, and he has a double jump that lets him change direction in mid-air over crumbling platforms and hazards. Treasure chests can yield upgraded armour with magic spells, or unwelcome surprises. Levels take in a graveyard, a ship on rolling waves, icy caverns and the demon castle, each closing with a boss encounter. The game uses the console’s scaling and layered scrolling for its shifting backdrops, and it is known for its demanding difficulty.
