The 7th Saga – SNES Game

The 7th Saga is a turn-based role-playing game for the Super Nintendo in which you choose one of several apprentices sent to recover a set of powerful runes. The characters you do not pick continue their own quests in the world, appearing as rivals who can be fought or recruited as a travelling partner, and they can claim runes ahead of you. Battles are fought from a first-person perspective with animated enemies, and a crystal ball on the map screen acts as a radar showing nearby monsters and other apprentices. Each starting character has a different balance of physical strength, magic, and equipment options, which changes how much you rely on spells or melee. Progress involves exploring towns and dungeons, buying gear, and grinding levels before facing the stronger rune holders.
