Ring King – NES Game

Ring King is a boxing game for the NES. Bouts are viewed from behind and above the ring, with your boxer and the opponent shown in the squared circle as you move in and out of range, throw high and low punches, block and look for openings. Landing clean hits drains the opponent’s stamina and can knock him to the canvas, where a count decides whether the fight continues. Between matches you train to raise attributes, so building up your boxer matters as much as the fights themselves. The single-player path takes you through a series of increasingly tougher opponents on the way to a title bout, and two players can also face each other. Controls are simple, with timing and positioning carrying the gameplay.
