Arch Rivals is a basketball game for the NES built around two-on-two play on a single-screen court. It takes a loose approach to the rules: you can punch opposing players to knock them down and steal the ball, and there are no fouls called for it. Play is fast and simple, with a small selection of players, dunks, and shooting from anywhere on the floor. The camera scrolls left and right to follow the action as teams trade possessions, and the crowd occasionally interferes with loose balls. You can play against the computer or against a second player with two controllers. It is a short, arcade-style take on the sport rather than a simulation, with no season play or statistics to manage.
