Barbie – NES Game

Barbie for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a side-scrolling game in which you guide Barbie through a series of dream sequences. Stages move through settings such as a shopping mall, an underwater area, and other dreamlike locations, with Barbie walking, jumping, and avoiding hazards and obstacles along the way. Rather than direct combat, much of the play involves careful platforming, collecting items scattered through each area, and reaching the end of a stage, with certain pickups needed to make progress. The presentation uses bright colors and a fashion-and-dreams theme aimed at younger players, and the controls are simple, relying on movement and jumping. Stages are relatively short and the structure is linear, moving from one dream to the next until the game is complete.
