Batman Returns – NES Game

Batman Returns on the NES is a side-scrolling action game based on the film. You play as Batman, moving through Gotham locations and fighting the Penguin’s circus gang using punches, kicks and throws, along with gadgets such as batarangs and the grapple for reaching higher ground. Enemies attack in groups, so crowd control and using grabs to clear space matter as much as straight attacks. Stages end in boss encounters with figures from the movie’s story, and health and item pickups are found along the way. Backdrops cover snow-covered streets, the Penguin’s underground lair and other settings from the film, and cutscene panels between stages advance the plot. Difficulty comes from limited lives and continues over the course of the levels.
