Big Nose the Caveman – NES Game

Big Nose the Caveman is a side-scrolling platformer for the NES starring a club-swinging prehistoric hero. You run and jump through stages set in caves, jungles and other prehistoric terrain, swinging your club at dinosaurs and other creatures or bopping them from above. Coloured gems and bones are scattered through each level, and collecting them lets you buy items and power-ups that help you survive the tougher stretches. Levels are built around platform hopping over pits and hazards, with enemies that move in fixed patterns you learn through repetition. Progress is measured by reaching the end of each stage with lives intact, and there are no passwords or saves to lean on, so runs are made in a single sitting. The cartoon art style keeps the tone light.
