Dr. Mario – NES Game

Dr. Mario is a falling-block puzzle game for the NES. Mario plays a doctor dropping two-coloured capsules into a bottle occupied by red, yellow and blue viruses. Line up four or more of the same colour vertically or horizontally to clear them, and clear every virus in the bottle to finish the stage. Halves of destroyed capsules fall into the gaps below, so well-planned placements can set off chains that take out several groups at once. Before playing you set the starting virus level and the capsule drop speed, and higher levels start the bottle with more viruses packed into it. A two-player versus mode puts two bottles side by side on one screen, with multi-line clears dumping extra capsule pieces on the opponent to crowd them out.
