Ikari Warriors – NES Game

A run-and-gun action game for the NES in which you fight your way on foot through jungle, river and enemy base terrain viewed from overhead. You carry a rifle and a limited supply of grenades, picking up ammunition and power-ups from crates as you advance upward through continuous scrolling territory. Enemy soldiers appear from all sides and fixed emplacements guard the route, so movement and aiming direction matter as much as firepower. Tanks and other vehicles can be commandeered, giving you heavier armament and protection until they are destroyed or run dry. Two players can take part together, sharing the screen as they push through the same stages. A single hit ends a life, which keeps the pace cautious despite the constant shooting, and the game leans on memorisation of enemy placement.
