Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II is an action-platformer for the NES and the sequel to Wizards & Warriors. You again play as the knight Kuros, fighting through side-scrolling levels with sword in hand while jumping across platforms, climbing, and searching for keys, treasure and items. The quest is built around confronting elemental threats tied to fire, water, air and earth, and gathering the components needed to obtain the Ironsword itself before facing the wizard Malkil. Along the way you buy or find equipment such as better weapons, armor and magical items, and you can enter shops and speak with characters between stages. Combat is close-range and timing-based, with enemies that respawn if you linger. Levels are broken up by boss encounters, and progress is saved by passwords rather than battery backup.
