Zaxxon Motherbase 2000 – Sega 32X Game

Zaxxon’s Motherbase 2000 is a shooter for the Sega 32X that revives the isometric viewpoint of the original Zaxxon. You fly a craft over fortress installations rendered in the system’s polygon graphics, managing both your horizontal position and your altitude so shots line up with targets and your ship clears walls and barriers. Fuel tanks and other pickups on the ground must be shot to keep going, while turrets, missiles, and enemy fighters attack from the surface and the air. A shadow beneath your craft helps judge height, which is the central skill the game asks of you. Stages build toward heavily defended base structures and boss encounters. The 32X hardware handles the scaling and rotation used to move the environment beneath you.
